Will you accept someone who is not a Virgin?

I was asked this question yesterday and I replied “Yes, I dont think I will have problems, as long as she does not cheat on me.” So to this he said, “How can you accept a woman who has slept with another man?” I didn’t have a proper answer to that question. May be it was because I have stayed in the US for so long or may be because I dont look at someone’s past. But the entire conversation got me thinking, why is virginity so important? Why do people put so much emphasis that their life partner be a virgin? I asked a friend of mine the same question and this is how the conversation went:

Me: Would you have accepted A, if he said he was not a virgin?
Her: Hmmm
Her: Good question
Her: No
Me: why?
Her: Just No
Me: So you would reject him just because he slept with someone b4 u..but even though he loves u, cares for u and is really a nice person??
Her: Yes
Her: Definitely
Her: I just dont approve of this sleeping around business
Her: Guys just have one thing on their mind, when it comes to a relationship
Her: So if he (any guy) has slept with a girl..then he should go and love that girl and care for her
Me: Suppose he happened to be a in relationship, things happened but after that things didnt work out and they break up
Her: I dont approve of this
Her: AT ALL
Me: So why do you think virginity is so important?
Her: Because sex is not a game.
Her: It is pure and involves a lot of emotional bonding.
Me: True

This got me even more thinking.. what is it that makes it so hard to accept someone who has slept with someone else before? Desperately seeking answers..

Mean Women

I have been itching to write this post for quite sometime now. Its been sometime since the BEST introduced reserved seating for women in their buses. The other day I was travelling by it and happened to be standing near a seat reserved for just them. There was a school going kid, barely in 4th grade, sitting on one of the seats reserved for women and a guy sitting next to him. The entire bus is crowded, this lady comes behind me with her friend and asks the guy to give up the seat citing it was reserved for women. The guy apologizes and gives up his seat. So after she takes a seat, she sees her friend is still standing, so she asks the school going kid to give up his seat. The kid does not say much and gives up his seat. He had this huge bag pack, which must be heavy like anything, on this shoulders and he could barely stand with it. I was just amazed by how selfish that woman was. It was not like she was uneducated. She seemed to studying for her MBA. I dont think she will ever become a good manager. After seeing that incident I have decided not to give up my seat for any woman, unless she is old or if she happens to be my mother or my gf.

Farewell Andre

One of the best guys to step on the court.. I am going to miss him play. Here is his on court speech after his final game in his pro career:
” The scoreboard said I lost today, but what the scoreboard doesn’t say is what it is I have found. And over the last 21 years, I have found loyalty. You have pulled for me on the court and also in life. I’ve found inspiration. You have willed me to succeed sometimes even in my lowest moments.”
“And I’ve found generosity. You have given me your shoulders to stand on to reach for my dreams, dreams I could have never reached without you. “
“Over the last 21 years, I have found you. And I will take you and the memory of you with me for the rest of my life.”
“Thank you.”

Minority Appeasement

Before you continue reading, this post isnt against Muslims or other people. This is just my point of view.

In this country we have politicians who will bend our backwards to appease the minority community. So, on one hand we have quotas for all the backward class people, ST/SC/OBC’s etc and then on the other hand we have certain muslim sects which follow their own Sharia laws. What India truly needs is Uniform Civil Code, which is equal for everyone.

We also dont need quotas, but merit should be given a priority. I can understand the need to have quotas at primary levels, so that the person can gain entry into the system. But once he is in, that person should also be judged like the rest of us. Today if we fuck-up the SSC exams or get low scores we would not gain entry into a reputed institute. The same should happen to them, but here we have people who show certain documents and whoosh they are in. While on the other hand, every year we hear or read students who have committed suicides because they have not scored well. This is just plain wrong. And now our government wants quotas at all levels.. no wonder we are losing all our talent to other countries where merit is valued. May be it would be best for other students also to leave and study abroad. It is only when something drastic like this happens that our old blood sucking politicians will understand the value of merit.

Regarding certain religions given special laws and stuff like that.. this is utter bullshit. I mean what crap is this when a husband yells “talaq, talaq, talaq” and he is considered divorced. I read this news article that some muslims were opposed to singing Vande Mataram, the national song, on the grounds of religious freedom. I dont know what else to say except those Muslims cant truly be Indian citizens. I believe their forefathers also use to sing this song during the fight for independence. The song is our own National Song for crying out loud. Our government needs to take some strong actions in certain issues like this. Too much appeasement of minorities is going on and this cant be good for any country. I hope our dear netas are listening..

Moral Policing

I have been observing this kind of policing since quite a few years over here in Mumbai and honestly I am very much frustrated by it. First, we are staying in a democratic nation, which means we have the right to choose, see, and hear anything we want. I dont want to be told what to hear and what not to hear, what to see and what not to see. I am an adult and I know whats right or wrong for me. I think this applies to everyone.

Recently two incidents took place which prompted me to write this post. The first incident took place around 3 weeks back at Jehangir Art Gallery. The name of the exhibition was “Clits, Tits and Elephant Dicks”. Now after reading this title itself most patrons would have understood what the exhibtion is all about. Even then we have a patron who is filing a police complain against the artists for obscenity and social degradation. What the F*** is this about? The patron in question, chose to see this exhibtion and it was not forced upon her. She made the decision to view the exhibtion and so according to me she has not right to complain about the exhibition. If she didnt like the exhibition, thats fine, but she has no right to complain to the police and shut down the whole damn thing.

The 2nd incident took place last week where the Mumbai High Court ordered a ban on all movie channels that are being broadcasted in the city. The police were only too happy to oblige and raid the cable operators offices. The whole point is why is the high court acting out because of one person who feels that this could have an effect on the children. It is the repsonsibility of the parents to see what their kids watch on TV. Today almost all TV’s have parental locking system. So here we have one college professor who thinks that banning movie channels is going to improve the society. Today every school kid knows where to access porn, so why all this bullshit? There are so many other causes that are worth all these efforts. The only thing bans are going to do is put us back into Doordarshan era and according to a colleague of mine, result in explosion of population.

I hope that people in charge understand this and realise that we dont want to be told what to see and hear. We live in a free country and have the right to choose.

Attempt to write a song

It was June when I was first saw you
I was alone and you were new
It seemed like you walked in just for me
Life finally smiled at me

We went out after a week for dinner
Six months later, we were still together
Life could not have been any better

But all good things come to an end
Two months later, we grew apart
I was no longer in your heart

How should I forget you, is what I ask to myself
You have moved on with someone else
I wish that someone could be me
Life is just laughing at me.

Damn.. a post after a month

I have been busy with many issues this last one month that I haven’t had any time to post. Here are a few updates from my life.

1. I was home was Rakshabandhan for the first time in 6 years. It felt really good when my sister tied a rakhi on my wrist.
2. I turned 24, a couple of weeks ago. Needless to say it was one of the simplest and yet the best birthday I had ever celebrated. My family was awake at 3:00am when I got in from work. I did the honors by cutting the cake so early in the morning, while they sang the birthday song. The day went even better when someone close to me stopped by my place for a few minutes. At work, we celebrated the birthdays for 7 people who were born in the last couple of weeks. It was a gala time. They got cakes and pizza’s and needless to say they smeared all the birthday guys with cake. All in all it was an awesome day.
3. For all the good news, there is some bad news also. I will be moving to Kolkata next month and that means no more home food.

I cant think of anything much right now.. Things are happening too fast and it is taking me sometime to catch up with them. Hopefully I should be able to clear some of my thoughts and get myself blogging regularly.

The original Ya Ali.. I thought the hindi one was the original. I dont know what the words mean.. but the music sounds just the same if not better. When will Bollywood stop copying and come up with something original???

A time for war

I have been following the developments in West Asia very closely since the last week or so. As all of you must be knowing by now, 2 Israeli soldiers were captured by Hezbollah and now Israel is waging a war for them. If you look at it logically there is no sense in killing 200 people for 2 people, but then on this one I agree with Israel totally. You just cant have peace with some country, when they repeatedly breach your borders and kill your citizens. The kidnapping of the soldiers and the Mumbai bomb blasts took place exactly on the same day and here we are after 7 days still trying to find out what materials were used in the bomb, whereas Israel is already inside Lebanon and waging a war with Hezbollah. Our government knows exactly where these terrorists are, where they are based, how many camps they have, they know everything and yet they have not done anything. This leads me to wonder, do they really care for us?? Everyday we have bomb blasts in Kashmir, people dying, people getting injured and yet no serious action is taken by us. All we have are politicians talking about peace with the country that is harboring these terrorists. Did we see US talking about peace with Osama after 9/11? Did we see Israel exchanging prisoners for the 2 soldiers? I think this just shows the spine of the Indian Government. The Indian government is run by a bunch of cowards, who are only concerned with filling up their votes and their treasury banks. They laud our spirit, but dont realise we dont really have any other option, but to move on. How much longer will we be treated like this?? When will the government realise that Gandhism’s no longer work in this world. All that works is an eye for an eye and tooth for a tooth.
