Minority Appeasement

Before you continue reading, this post isnt against Muslims or other people. This is just my point of view.

In this country we have politicians who will bend our backwards to appease the minority community. So, on one hand we have quotas for all the backward class people, ST/SC/OBC’s etc and then on the other hand we have certain muslim sects which follow their own Sharia laws. What India truly needs is Uniform Civil Code, which is equal for everyone.

We also dont need quotas, but merit should be given a priority. I can understand the need to have quotas at primary levels, so that the person can gain entry into the system. But once he is in, that person should also be judged like the rest of us. Today if we fuck-up the SSC exams or get low scores we would not gain entry into a reputed institute. The same should happen to them, but here we have people who show certain documents and whoosh they are in. While on the other hand, every year we hear or read students who have committed suicides because they have not scored well. This is just plain wrong. And now our government wants quotas at all levels.. no wonder we are losing all our talent to other countries where merit is valued. May be it would be best for other students also to leave and study abroad. It is only when something drastic like this happens that our old blood sucking politicians will understand the value of merit.

Regarding certain religions given special laws and stuff like that.. this is utter bullshit. I mean what crap is this when a husband yells “talaq, talaq, talaq” and he is considered divorced. I read this news article that some muslims were opposed to singing Vande Mataram, the national song, on the grounds of religious freedom. I dont know what else to say except those Muslims cant truly be Indian citizens. I believe their forefathers also use to sing this song during the fight for independence. The song is our own National Song for crying out loud. Our government needs to take some strong actions in certain issues like this. Too much appeasement of minorities is going on and this cant be good for any country. I hope our dear netas are listening..

Moral Policing

I have been observing this kind of policing since quite a few years over here in Mumbai and honestly I am very much frustrated by it. First, we are staying in a democratic nation, which means we have the right to choose, see, and hear anything we want. I dont want to be told what to hear and what not to hear, what to see and what not to see. I am an adult and I know whats right or wrong for me. I think this applies to everyone.

Recently two incidents took place which prompted me to write this post. The first incident took place around 3 weeks back at Jehangir Art Gallery. The name of the exhibition was “Clits, Tits and Elephant Dicks”. Now after reading this title itself most patrons would have understood what the exhibtion is all about. Even then we have a patron who is filing a police complain against the artists for obscenity and social degradation. What the F*** is this about? The patron in question, chose to see this exhibtion and it was not forced upon her. She made the decision to view the exhibtion and so according to me she has not right to complain about the exhibition. If she didnt like the exhibition, thats fine, but she has no right to complain to the police and shut down the whole damn thing.

The 2nd incident took place last week where the Mumbai High Court ordered a ban on all movie channels that are being broadcasted in the city. The police were only too happy to oblige and raid the cable operators offices. The whole point is why is the high court acting out because of one person who feels that this could have an effect on the children. It is the repsonsibility of the parents to see what their kids watch on TV. Today almost all TV’s have parental locking system. So here we have one college professor who thinks that banning movie channels is going to improve the society. Today every school kid knows where to access porn, so why all this bullshit? There are so many other causes that are worth all these efforts. The only thing bans are going to do is put us back into Doordarshan era and according to a colleague of mine, result in explosion of population.

I hope that people in charge understand this and realise that we dont want to be told what to see and hear. We live in a free country and have the right to choose.

Attempt to write a song

It was June when I was first saw you
I was alone and you were new
It seemed like you walked in just for me
Life finally smiled at me

We went out after a week for dinner
Six months later, we were still together
Life could not have been any better

But all good things come to an end
Two months later, we grew apart
I was no longer in your heart

How should I forget you, is what I ask to myself
You have moved on with someone else
I wish that someone could be me
Life is just laughing at me.

Damn.. a post after a month

I have been busy with many issues this last one month that I haven’t had any time to post. Here are a few updates from my life.

1. I was home was Rakshabandhan for the first time in 6 years. It felt really good when my sister tied a rakhi on my wrist.
2. I turned 24, a couple of weeks ago. Needless to say it was one of the simplest and yet the best birthday I had ever celebrated. My family was awake at 3:00am when I got in from work. I did the honors by cutting the cake so early in the morning, while they sang the birthday song. The day went even better when someone close to me stopped by my place for a few minutes. At work, we celebrated the birthdays for 7 people who were born in the last couple of weeks. It was a gala time. They got cakes and pizza’s and needless to say they smeared all the birthday guys with cake. All in all it was an awesome day.
3. For all the good news, there is some bad news also. I will be moving to Kolkata next month and that means no more home food.

I cant think of anything much right now.. Things are happening too fast and it is taking me sometime to catch up with them. Hopefully I should be able to clear some of my thoughts and get myself blogging regularly.
